Captain GRAEME OGILVIE – Flight Operations Specialist
Graeme Ogilvie has spent his whole career in Aviation. After he obtained his PPL in 1964, he entered the Royal Air Force in 1965 where he remained until retiring in 1979. The next 27 years were with Cathay Pacific Airways in Hong Kong in a variety of management posts but always flying (B747-2/3/400, Tristar and A300-600). Graeme obtained his MBA at Hong Kong University and amongst other management experiences, he was instrumental in turning around Air Hong Kong to become a profitable company as Director Operations & Engineering. Cathay Pacific recalled him again to manage the rebirth of Air Hong Kong when the shareholding changed, and it became a joint venture between DHL and Cathay Pacific. Charged with the complete rebuild of the airline and the purchase of eight new A300-600, leading to profitable success.
Forced to retire from Cathay Pacific in 2006 because of the then age rules, Graeme was active in gaining Air Astana’s removal from the European Commission ‘Air Safety List’ Regulation (Regulation (EC) 2111/2005), the ‘Blacklist’ Regulation. Further, rescuing Airlines in post-accident recovery plans, as well as a turn-around of the French basic flight simulator manufacturer Alsim. More recently he has been involved in start-ups and advising airlines applying for TCO approval. Graeme is passionate about Safety and is leading the technical services of the Group to ensure safe and efficient operations are delivered to the clients.
Captain JEREMY BALDWIN – MD European Aviation Consultants
Jeremy began his flying career in 1992. Having identified his forte in analysing and applying regulatory requirements, he positioned himself as a technical author for the transitions to the Joint Airworthiness Requirements (JAR) for Flight Crew Licensing and Air Operations, as they became applicable during the late 1990s. This move, and an ongoing pilot relationship with the Baltic States resulted in an offer by the CAA of Latvia. Jeremy worked in a variety of inspector positions within the CAA of Latvia, including Training and Examinations, SAFA, FSTD National Coordinator and Air Operations. During this time Jeremy also developed a LOSA programme implemented at National level, believed to be a global first for this approach. Additionally, the CAA of Latvia seconded him to the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) as a standardisation team member during this period.
His work with EASA involved auditing roles at Governmental and Aviation Authority levels, both within those organisations and by targeted observational audits of their undertakings. This work involved the oversight of all manner of operations from the very small (non-complex) through to multi-nationals. This also gave him an innate understanding of the working of EASA, their functioning and expectations.
In 2014 he started the European Aviation Consultants group, having realised the transition from JAR requirements to the Implementing Rules of the Basic Regulation was being poorly implemented by Authorities. The group has now grown to 86 subject matter expert consultants, able to address any requirement within civil aviation. Jeremy and his team have represented and resolved TCO issues for a number of airlines at EASA.
