COASTAL
SURVEILLANCE
& DATA GATHERING
Surveillance drones can provide can range from small quadcopter style drones capable of getting in to relatively small spaces for inspection and monitoring to large fixed-wing drones that can stay airborne for long periods. Key applications include:
Coastal Surveillance. Long-range surveillance drones provide real-time intelligence beyond visual line of sight. Equipped with multiple sensors, including optical zoom, Infrared and LiDAR. These drones have a 16 – 20 hours endurance at altitudes up to 3,600 metres to provide autonomous surveillance of large areas. Uses include:
Search and Rescue (SAR)
Accurately locating and responding to capsized boats and vessels in distress.

Law Enforcement

- Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing surveillance seeking trawling vessels using large dragnets has become a major issue in many of the world’s oceans and seas.
- Trafficking. The transnational dynamics of organised crime are changing the landscape with many operations having a maritime component for illegally trafficked drugs, people and exotic animals.

Environmental Surveillance
Long-range drones equipped with sophisticated sensors can provide a range of maritime environmental services
-
- Oil slicks
- Coral reef degradation
- Marine mammal monitoring
